1) What is your role in Pre-Dental Society? What are your duties?
President. I'm in charge of planning meetings, contacting dental schools, and overseeing club activities. 2) Tell us about yourself I am a 4th year MCD Bio major here at UCSC and will be applying in the 2015-2016 cycle. Outside of PDS, I sang for the multicultural acapella group Isang Himig, and now help out at the Santa Cruz Homeless Services Center as a volunteer barber. My two favorite hobbies are weight-lifting and illustrating. 3) Why Dentistry? My passion for dentistry ignited when I volunteered at CDA Cares 2013 in San Jose. I was immersed in the sea of hundreds of dental care providers, all with the goal of providing free dental care to those in need. From this event, not only did I know that I wanted to be a dentist, I also knew that I wanted to provide dental care to under-served communities. Dentistry is not only about the artwork you create with your hands, but more importantly, the lives you impact in the community you serve. The characteristics of this profession are where all my passions fall together into a career path that I would love for the rest of my life. 4) Your favorite motto or advice to other Pre-Dents? "If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse." Many things will get tough in life. When things get tough, passion will lead you forward when you feel like giving up. Passion is the aura that everyone can see and feel. With passion, you will always be able to find a way. |
